For those of you who think tofu is too bland to stand on its own, well, you're right. But rather than drowning the delicate-flavored block in heavy sauces or dressings, all you need to do is brush both sides of a tofu slice with miso paste. Grill each side for a couple of minutes to create a crunchy-crisp crust and to caramelize the miso for a savory-salty flavor.
Miso paste is found at Asian markets and health food stores; it keeps for 6 months in the refrigerator after opening.
