TAMPA - A mother was arrested today after admitting to investigators that she used force that broke her 8-month-old son's arm and leg, the Tampa Police Department said.
Her son, Gabrielle Crawford, was found not breathing a day after his arm and leg were broken and died in December.
Rosielee Crawford, 33, was charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of child abuse, police said.
Crawford injured her son Dec. 1 and didn't seek medical assistance until the next day when she noticed he wasn't breathing, police said.
Gabrielle was transferred to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Crawford refused to talk with police detectives at the time. The department continued with its investigation.
Today, Crawford heard that the story on her son's case was published in a local newspaper. She called Tampa police and met with a detective.
She admitted to investigators that she used inappropriate force that broke her son's arm and leg, police said.
The case remains under investigation and may result in more charges, police said.
